Safe Space Cumberland Inc. Membership

Keep Our Community Strong!

At Safe Space Cumberland Inc., we believe that every person deserves a place where they feel seen, heard, and valued. We are more than just a center—we are a lifeline for the LGBTQIA2S+ community in Western Maryland and beyond. In today’s world, finding an inclusive, supportive, and affirming space can be challenging. Many LGBTQIA2S+ individuals face discrimination, mental health struggles, housing insecurity, and isolation. Safe Space Cumberland exists to ensure that no one has to face these challenges alone. Our doors are open to everyone, providing support groups, educational workshops, social events, and crisis assistance. But we can’t do this without you. LGBTQIA2S+ centers across the country are closing due to lack of funding. We refuse to let that happen here. That’s why our membership program is essential—it provides the stability needed to keep Safe Space Cumberland open, thriving, and accessible for years to come. By becoming a member, you’re not just joining a space—you’re investing in a community that supports you and countless others.

Membership directly helps keep our center open by covering rent, utilities, and operational costs, expand our services by offering more support groups, mental health resources, and programs, provide emergency assistance to LGBTQIA2S+ individuals in crisis, and ensure long-term sustainability so Safe Space Cumberland remains for future generations. When you become a member, you gain exclusive perks designed to enhance your experience. Site Membership is free and provides access to community events, workshops, open programs, discussions, and LGBTQIA2S+ resources. Paid Membership is $15/month and includes everything in Site Membership plus access to private, members-only events and programs, a fifteen percent discount on merchandise and shop items, eligibility for our Sweat Equity Program (volunteer work in exchange for membership fees), and access to both individual and group spaces. Group Membership is $10/month per participant, granting access to group-specific meetings and activities, use of Safe Space Cumberland as a meeting space, a portion of membership fees going back to the group for sustainability, and group support services. At Safe Space Cumberland, we believe finances should never be a barrier to belonging, so we offer the Sweat Equity Program—trading volunteer hours in exchange for membership.

Every membership fee and donation directly changes lives, supporting LGBTQIA2S+ individuals in need of acceptance, mental health support, and advocacy. This is more than just a membership—it’s a commitment to a stronger, safer LGBTQIA2S+ community. Whether you want to attend events, support local advocacy, or simply ensure Safe Space Cumberland remains open, your membership makes it possible. Sign up now and help build a future where every LGBTQIA+ individual has a place to belong.
